Turning Yoga into a Habit: The Key You Have Been Missing
Serena Lombardi | JAN 28, 2024
Are you considering more exercise, starting Yoga, or deepening your practice?
I am guessing your day is spent mainly sitting in front of a computer, and you have noticed it can be quite draining. From waking up to bedtime, there is no real space or energy to make any meaningful change amid answering emails, attending meetings, housekeeping, and hoping for some TV time.
Stress, demotivation, fatigue, anxiety, poor sleep, and disrupted focus may resonate with you. You might feel you don’t have the agency to shape your life and the world around you.

Nowadays, Yoga is a common discipline. Some might even argue it’s uninteresting. What if I told you that Yoga practice could transform your relationship with your body, with the people and nature around you, and it could even change the world? What if I told you that Yoga is one of the most significant social revolutions of our time?
You have heard this before: countless ads and fitness teachers promising you will become fit, healthy and happy. How could Yoga possibly change the world? You might think this sounds hippie and a bit crazy. Also, you are busy and need to squeeze change into a hectic lifestyle.
I'm Serena Lombardi. I started practising Yoga to overcome a feeling of lethargy and demotivation hindering my ability to express my full potential. In 2018, I began training with renowned Yoga and Meditation Master Yogi Ashokananda to become a Himalayan Hatha Yoga teacher, aiming to share its transformative benefits.
Having worked in the media industry for many years, I founded Serenanda to empower business professionals to attain a clear sense of purpose and an optimum work-life balance while increasing their ability to reach their goals.
Yoga created a profound transformation in me, building muscular strength and a more resilient mind, developing compassion and creating the conditions for love and contentment to rise naturally. You don’t have to take my word for it. Join me on this journey; you will experience it for yourself!
One of the main obstacles that keep you from starting a regular yoga practice is time. More often than not, the challenge lies not in the scarcity of time but in the decision-making. You have to assess what’s most important to you. When you recognise something is very important, then you make it happen.
Despite everything, you make the choice: you make time for your yoga practice. It’s not easy; you rush the last couple of things at work to be in class on time. You will probably have to rush through dinner. You might have said no to the usual drinks with colleagues or asked your partner to collect your kids from school instead of doing it yourself. The yoga class is hard work; you feel pain in your muscles and a sense of frustration because your body is stiff from sitting all day. But you know you need to go back. You remember how much better it made you feel.
Then, one day, you are feeling tired and in a bad mood, and inside lies that choice again. You sit on your sofa; you can watch TV or keep scrolling on your smartphone. But you choose to put your well-being first. And then it happens, you get the first glimpse of the transformation that will come: the workout is arduous, you are soaked, you lay down on your back, and you’re finally able to relax; your mind is clear and spacious, your thoughts are lighter, and you smile. Everything is possible now.
You are better at organising yourself, you won't rush at the last minute. Your ability to concentrate has increased. Your sleep pattern has improved. You are more able to cope with stress. Your body is getting stronger, giving you renewed confidence in yourself. You notice your energy is much higher now, thanks to consistent practice. You are more attentive to the people and nature around you. YOU CARE.
The change we seek in the world can only become reality if it happens in ourselves first. A clear mind, a strong body and an open heart are the optimum conditions for enabling social change and re-establishing unity between individuals and nature.
With access to Himalayan Hatha Yoga, Atma Kriya Meditation classes, and Restorative Yoga, Serenanda is the place to recharge, get inspired and develop awareness of who you are.
