Break the autopilot and recognize that your well-being comes first.

Putting your well-being first creates opportunities to rewire your brain, go deeper into yourself to find what is truly important, work with care and effectiveness, and foster collaboration, developing new paths and insights no one had anticipated.

Nowadays, we barely need to move a finger to find food, work or entertainment. As a result, we are less intelligent (a sedentary lifestyle lowers our IQs), and our ability to concentrate has diminished, as has our capacity to memorize, plan, get creative, or feel good about ourselves and keep our bodies healthy.

If you are not involved in work that entails moving your body, science recommends moving at least once every 30 minutes. But who does that? Our inboxes and phones demand attention.

Well-being and high performance connect inextricably to movement. Movement actively shapes your brain. Your brain is not confined to your head. It runs throughout your whole body via your nervous system. Whenever you experience a stressful situation, your body reacts to danger and bears the imprint. “Movement is a key part of the physiological process of returning to a safe mode”.

"The power of movement is that it allows you to hack in this body-mind chatroom and changes the tone of the conversation for the better". It leaves us with a transformed sense of “how I feel now”.

Regular Yoga and meditation practice makes you feel calm and in control, builds muscular strength, alleviates stress, and boosts the immune system. Furthermore, through the study of yourself, Yoga provides the foundation necessary for the exploration of your body, mind and higher awareness.

I was surprised during my Yoga teacher training, looking back at the most important thing I learnt there was self-discipline. We need to strengthen our will and make wise choices to take charge of our well-being, which will lead us closer to understanding ourselves and the unity of life.

Make it a priority now. Head to the schedule to book your place.

Please share this with your friends and colleagues if you think they might find it helpful.

Until next time.

Happy Yoga,

Serena
